When you were younger what did you want to be when you were older and why?
When I was younger, I wanted to be an architect. I thought if I learned how to design a house, I could help us escape public housing. I used to walk up to Braddock News Stand on Braddock Avenue and look for the latest magazines about homes/architecture. I could stare at floor plans forever and imagine I would some day live in a house that I designed.
Well it didn’t quite turn out that way.
Instead of architecture, I have an undergraduate degree in Economics and a graduate degree in Business Administration with a Management Information Systems concentration. None of that is even close to architecture. And what’s even funnier (but not really) is I test software now. Testing software is far from planning/building homes. I didn’t even plan the one I’m in now. I just picked one of two floor plans. But watching it be built was fascinating to me so that kind of took me back to my young dream. Watching this community being built everyday is an amazing thing for me to watch.
Have you ever sat and thought about what you wanted to be when you were younger and compared it to where you are now?
